John's Story

Life My wife and I live in Hood River Oregon and have since 1981. We recently sold our last store and are semi- retired. I will go back to car racing in the SCCA as I did from 2001 to 2005 in the Oregon rally Group and travel some now that the store business in done. I started at Dieringers on 42nd and King Rd. and stayed a grocer for 42 years. Enought of that. Now comes the fun. We have 2 grown kids but no grand kids yet. That too is comming soon we hope. 10/14 Update...Expand for more
: Our grandson is now 22 months old and keeping us busy as his family lives in a rental of ours 6 miles away. We have him for a day each week and enjoy spoiling him. Our daughter and husband are still wanting a child but it has not happened yet. Gave up driving school bus in October after 6 years. I will miss it but now can drive our bus more. I have not been racing as I thought I would because of time constraints and family time. I still hope to but probably will not,

Our grandsons job is to turn everything on and my job is to remember to turn everything off!
My wife found some pictures that I thought burned up in our house fire. They brought back some fond memories of my second buggy I built in the early 70's. I put an aluminum Buick 215 C.I. on the VW transaxle. She was quick!
