John's Story
Life
Hey guys, not much has happened to me since high school. I ended up going to Northern Michigan Univ. and got kicked out! Had some fun while I was there though. Played in a few football games there. Went to Mardi Gras with Ryan Wille, man that was a trip. From there I went to a comm. college and graduated with an AS degree. After that, I had some fun trying to be a cop in Detroit. That didn't work out too well for me though. So I had some time on my hands and decided to go into the Navy. It's been pretty good to me so far, and I've decided to make it a career. I got married soon after I got to California. Her name is Teresa and she's been a wonderful wife to me. I have to say that I'm glad that i found her. Anyway, that's everything thats happened to me. Hope to see you guys soon.
Workplace
Well now, where to begin. Most people from school would remember me as the gas station attendant at the Shell off of Springdale and Evesham. Well after we graduated in '96, I moved to Michigan and became a "Sandwich Artist" at subway. From there I was recruited by the General Manager at a local Marriott hotel to work guest services. While I worked guest services there an opening came up in the security dept. there, so I applied and got the job. ...Expand for more
I quickly became one of the supervisors there and was next in line for the head of security job. Unfortunately I was laid off, due to cutbacks. So I was putting myself through a comm. college, and went to work in the construction business. While doing all of this I was being recruited by the Detroit Police Dept. So I quit my job working construction and went back to security at a local mall. Although I'm not supposed to call it a mall, it was a "Collection." Which is just another word for snobby ass people. If you can't tell, I didn't really like that place. By this time I was 22, and i was tired of waiting for the Detroit Police to call me back. So I decided to join the military. And after 7 wonderful years as an Aviation Electrician's Mate and making rank rather quickly, I'd have to say that I'm happy with what I've decided to make a carreer.
Military
There I was in 'Nam.... Just kidding. Seriously though, being on the carrier and sending off the first bombs for Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom too, was the greatest thing. To see an aircraft come back with no bombs left on it, it makes you say to yourself, "Wow. I helped make that happen. I'm helping another country become free." That's what my job is all about, and I'm proud to do it.
