John's Story
After a twenty-five year career with New England Telephone Co., mostly on Cape Cod and the islands, I responded to an early retirement offer at the end of 1991. I had remained on Cape Cod, working an various full and part time jobs. I moved to southern Maryland in 2002, after a divorce from my wife of 22 years, to move to Florida. After a stop of 18 months, I again moved to Charlotte County Florida, where I have now lived for ten years. After trying both full and part-time work, I became employed by a funeral home company in 2007, as a part-time funeral attendant, a position which I enjoy. I had a five year relationship, with a lady, Joan who had grown up in New Bedford, that I met here at church. The small world that it is, not too surprisingly, she is first cousin to the Dreher sisters, Barbara Sherman And Elinor Pasquil who were in high school with me, and who each married Fairhaven boys. My first wife was from Marion, Ma., and is now deceased, my second wife is from Harwich Port, Ma. and continues to live there. My five children includes three sons Kimball 57, who lives here in Punta Gorda, Fl. Michael 54, who is still living in New Bedford. Neither of whom have yet to marry. Jeffrey 52, continues to live in Middlebor...Expand for more
o, Ma with his wife Patty, and their daughter Alexandra, a student at Cape Cod Community College studying Fire Science Courses. His son Christopher is living in Easton, Ma.
Two daughters Michelle 50, living in Nichols, NY with her husband Jeff, and Betty 48, living in Milton, Fl. with her husband Steve. and two Great Danes. Her son Kyle was born at Rockwood, Maine, and continues to reside there. As none of the grands have yet to marry, there are no great grand children. I remain in good health, and with my job and past involvement with my church, I manage to keep busy. While I was with my partner Joan, we purchased and traveled for six years in a 36' Rexhall Aerbus, Class A Motor Home, until the partnership dissolved and the Motor home was sold. My current lady friend Jean is the Mother-in-law of the former Cape Coral, Fl. police chief, who grew up at Bass River/ So. Yarmouth/ Cape Cod Mass. We are considering a Motor Home purchase, ourselves, as she has much camper experience. As I did become 78 in June, I may have to begin to slow down, but probably will not until forced to by future health problem. I am looking forward to the Fairhaven High School, Class of '55" 60 year reunion in June of 2015. Hope to see you there.
