John's Story

Life Post yourphoto(s) After school, I was drafted July 2, 1965. I spent most of the time at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. After leaving the Army in June 1967, I spend time looking what to do. I then attend Electronics Training school in Pennsauken and hired by IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in April 1970. I started in Manufacturing as a System Test Technician, moved to Manufacturing Engineering as a software programmer, then to the Hardware Laboratory as a microcode programmer, then into management of a software group that developed/maintained a software simulator for the...Expand for more
System 390. I was downsized in 1993 and retired from IBM. I worked for a few years as a contractor programmer (back in IBM), and then was hired by AT&T in September 2000 to continue programming where I am today. In January 1971 I married Susan Markert (graduate of Camden Catholic High School in 1967). We have two children (a son born June 1977, and a girl born October 1978) and a granddaughter born in January 2003. I spend my free time at Bright Horizons at Casperkill playing racquetball, attending aerobic class and working (I work in the Fitness Center Sunday’s).
