John's Story

Hello fellow classmates, A brief history of the schools I attended, Pearl Hall, South Houston Jr. High, Park view Intermediate and Soho High. Real quick some of the things I remember about school, instead of gym I had Office and when the office would send me to a class to retrieve a student for too long of hair or sideburns, I always carried a pair of scissors and razor blade and would stop in the restroom and do a quick haircut so that they wouldn't get in trouble. I was President for a while of the local SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) in our school, anything to change our dress code. To made some money I would sell underground newspapers at school and elsewhere. In 1971 I married my high school sweetheart (Deer Park high 71') Right after high school I tried several different colleges, none of them mounted to anything,, guess I shouldn't have partied so much in high school. In 1972 I started working for the Pasadena Post Office and continued for 36 years. The best thing to ever happen was the birth of my one and only son in 1980. His name is Jon Michael( a SoHo graduate 1998 ) and he is a vice-president at Gulf Coast Teacher Credit Union. It feels so good when you can be proud of your children. My dumbest decision was divorcing my wife in 1990, never said I was bright. 1996 gave me a life chan...Expand for more
ging experience, at work I had some stored equipment fall on me and crushed my right leg. The accident alone wouldn¿t have been that bad for anyone else, but since I had had Polio from birth, my legs never totally recovered. I found I had to give up the things I enjoyed most out of life, I had been into Harleys since just after high school. I now use a wheelchair 24/7, I like to think of it as a real slow, clumsy Harley. Things do get better, In 1997 I married long time friend Becky (Pasadena High 71¿) she and I worked together at the PO back in 72 thru 75. We lost track of each other for 21 years, then in 1996 she came in the post office to pick up a package and the rest is history. Now days I spend my time in my garage, my wife calls it my Texans Sports Bar. It¿s a detached 30¿x 30¿ three car garage fixed up to look like a bar. Love my Texans *** I'd better stop here, because I just realized I remember alot about my High School Dazes PS. To the class of 1970... Unfortunately I'm not a Gold member. So like many I don't get to see who leaves messages or signs the guestbook. If you get a chance, may I suggest going to Classreport.org and follow the steps to the class of 70. Our class a great website and it's free.. If your not already registered then do so and enjoy everything the site has to offer.
