John's Story

Life It seems odd to write a life biography at our age. So I won't. Winter Park High School seems like another lifetime ago. But, that was a very good and fun time. I had most my fun then playing in a couple of bands that performed mostly locally and in Florida. I spent so much time at that during my WPHS days, that I didn't get to know many classmates that well. I grew may hair "long" (for the times) and got ridiculed by several teachers at good old Winter Park, particularly a white-haired English teacher whose name I purposely forgot. We went on to do some recording and even beat out the Allman Brothers in a competition in 1968. Our bass player (WPHS '68) still plays with Wierd Al Yankovic...Expand for more
. But, while I still play the guitar, I'm in a more conservative position--provost of a college campus (which means the guy in charge). I've worked in education for 30 years now. I earned a master degree in that field, which was a surprise because some WPHS counselor told my mom after my freshman year that I should learn a trade because I would never go to college. Like lots of us, I was just bored in class. I have two great teenagers, a daughter in college and a son in high school. I've been married almost 30 years (to the same woman). Things are good, and I'm really glad to be the age I am now. I hope you are well, too, and enjoying life. Times are a bit more complicated, aren't they? John
