John's Story
I graduated from Burleson High School, in Burleson, TX in 1979, and then went on to get my Executive Accounting degree in 1980. I then went on to further my education with the University of Texas at Arlington. After a couple of years I decided to join the Navy as a Disbursing Clerk. I did a 3x3 program, which means I do 3 years active duty, and 3 years Active drilling reserve duty. I spent 7 years in the reserves; going to places like Seoul, Korea, San Diego, CA, and even place like Port Hueneme, CA, and New Orleans, La..then the unthinkable happened; I blow my knee out by jumping over a fence...OUCH!!!..well the doctor's put it back together, but I was not able to perform the "PT" in the time needed to stay with the Navy, So after 10 years in the Navy, I was out. Well with my Navy career over, I concentrated on my Banking Career. I started as a p/t teller with a savings and loan, and quickley moved up to full time teller, and after 3 years with Bank One, became there senior teller. In 1996 I decided to go into management, and took a Teller Manager with a local Trust Bank, and after 2 years I decided to get out of banking...well after 6 months as a supervisor of an alarm monitoring service, and being away from people, "face to face" contact, I decided to get back into Banking when Navy Federal Credit Union offered me a New account specialist position. It was, as it tu...Expand for more
rns out, to become my dream job. I started with them in 1999 and come April 2009, will have 10 years with NFCU. Lots of things have happened in those 10 years, 1st, I met my beautiful wife, Renea, in 2000, and in 2001 was married, and immediatly became a step-father of 2. Oldest is 30yoa and has already done his time in the Marines, and is the proud father of 2 kids, 1 step daughter 13yoa, and also has had a son 3yoa...yes that would make me a grand father, but as I like to be called..."Pappa John"...because at 48yoa, and still looking like a 30-something year old man, I thought I was too young looking to be doned a grand father. I also have a 23 yoa step daughter also, and she lives with her Grand Parents in Bridgeport, TX. I don't have any kid's of my own, but the 2 kid's treat, and give me the respect that they would as if I was there parent.
I also have a Boston Terrier, and a black and white cat, that both have me wrapped around there paws...well if you got this far, you are very kind to have kept reading my profile, so I will end here by saying that Life is very short, and that everyone should live each day as if it were the last, because tomorrow is not guaranteed, and may not get here. So treat, and live each day to it's fullest. I would like to hear from anyone that remember's me, so please leave me a note on this site with your e-mail, and I will write back.
