John's Story

Well!.. for what ever it's worth I have tried my best to live up to my year book autograph signing moments. I have tried to stay the way I was and not change and forgive me for not calling when asked to even though your phone number was written. One really cool girl who I would have liked to have dated told me to go on a LDS Church mission. I took her counsel and served in Columbus Ohio from 1978 to 1980. Ah! those powerful influences from those who care. I had already had known my future wife before leaving for Ohio. She dicided to serve a mission also. After returning I ended back up to my home state, Alaska to work for the summer and then return to Utah to attend Utah Technical college. Brenda and I married August 1982 in the Provo Temple and took Our honey moon along the Alaskan Highway. Planted our roots here in Anchorage and raised 5 children. For 13 years I was a locomotive engineer for the Alaska Railroad. I am currently employed with Fedex working on the flight line of ramp operations. 0 hours loged. Flying over glaciers and over some mountain passes is fun to do even though I get a little nervous flying over turnigan channel on the way to Kenia or homer. I would not want to go swiming. None the less it's still a magnificant site to behold. I'm sure some of you out there has had the opportunity to travel to the great land at some point in the last 20-25 years. If you come again feel free to look me up. I still have family in Utah and I always enjoy my frequent trips there. Brenda is an American Fork gal. Funny thing though I met her here in Anchorage while she was earning money for school. For those who are interested there are 3 stakes here in Anchorage and still continues to grow. Many Saints from Utah have moved up here from the Salt Lake Valley. Must be the hunting and fishing that draws them here. Moose tend to eat my birch trees in my yard. They can be very annoying at times. there every where. It's not uncommon for a mother and her calf to take a rest during the winter in my fornt yard. They tell us not to feed them, and for good reason. I hope you find these comments enteresting and entertaining
