John's Story
Life
After graduating from Millard H.S., I attended UNO for a year, then moved to Norman Oklahoma, where I attended the University of Oklahoma. I earned a degree in Political Science, then obtained a J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Living a block away from the stadium, I was always torn when OU played Nebraska! Upon graduation from law school, I practiced law in Oklahoma City and became a Partner in the firm of Franklin & Phillips.
I met my wife, Marilyn, when she was opposing counsel in a case. I don't like to talk about how the case came out, but suffice it to say that I had a lot of respect for Marilyn when it concluded. We have two active blonde-headed boys, (Luke, age 15 and Paul, age 12) who are the light of my life.

rom the bench in 1997 to head up the firm's Alternative Dispute Resolution practice in their Newport Beach, California office. I left Irell in 2005 to form the Wagner Law Firm, P.C., which is based in San Juan Capistrano, California, where we live (it is exactly halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego). I now restrict my practice to mediation and arbitration, and although I work primarily in Southern California (we have affiliated offices in West L.A, Downtown L.A., Orange County, Long Beach, San Diego and Santa Barbara), I am also called to work cases pending in many different jurisdictions across the country. Regretably, however, my work has yet to bring me back to Omaha.
Apparently, the move to Oklahoma caused me to drop off the map and I missed the previous 10-year class reunion. I am getting nostalgic these days and would love to touch base with some of my old friends and classmates from the Class of '72.
