Johnie "Wayne"'s Story
Life
I joined the Army right out of high school. My training was in the military intelegence and missle repair fields. I served for six (6) years. The last three (3) years I was a Staff Sergeant (E-6) in charge of repairs at the Nike Hercules Training Center at Fort Bliss Texas.
I was first stationed in England where I met and married my wife of thirty seven (37) years. We lived in Germany for a year before transfering to El Paso. We had two children, a boy and a girl. We now have five (5) grandchildren, four (4) of which we are presently raising as our own.
For the past thirteen (13) years I have volunteered a great deal of my spare time. I work with Los Angeles County, 5th District Supervisor Michael Antonovich to form and operate groups known as Town Councils. The past eight (8) years I have served as Director of the Association of Rural Town Councils. Town Councils are ele...Expand for more
cted by their constituants to represent their communities in matters that affect their lives.
My day job is as an Instrument and Electrical Supervisor for the LA County Sanitation Districts. I oversee the installation, maintenance and repair of all the Waste Water Reclaimation Plants in North Los Angeles County. The many Sanitation Districts were formed to elliminate the sickness caused by contact with sewer water.
We presently live in Juniper Hills, California. Juniper Hills is in the South East Antelope Valley backed up to the Angeles National Forest. We life at the 4,100 ft. level and do receive some snow each year. We have three acres of land for our grandchildren to grow up enjoying. We like to say, "We Live where Other People Want to Retire."
My wife and I are planning on retiring in five (5) years. Guess what? We don't have to move to the country. We already live there.
