Jon's Story

Wow.....is this where we write our life's story? Well, I married Margi Kehres in 1980 and although the marriage didn't work out, we still remain pretty good friends. What I learned from that experience is that I'm not a white picket fence type of guy who can put down roots and stay put. I'm just not that kind of animal. I have a successful little adventure tour company in Cambodia called Angkor & Asia Adventures (web site) that is really the love of my life (still have a residence in Seattle, though...Mukilteo) and travel is a passion/addiction for me. I lived in Afghanistan for five years, and that's how I stumbled onto Southeast Asia. It's an amazing part of the world and often I think about my high-school education and how it was never really me...Expand for more
ntioned. I've come to my own conclusions about that and when young people ask me about it, I try to enlighten them, albeit a sometimes long story. The place I grew up in always seems to disappoint me when I see what it's grown into. But, I cannot deny that this is where I'm from and I take every opportunity to get the hell out of town and get up into the mountains. Our Cascades are a spiritual place for me and is probably why I haven't moved lock, stock and barrel to Asia. My goal is to be in the Northwest in spring and summer and Cambodia during fall and winter. A few more years and I think I'll be able to swing it. Anyway, thanks for looking in on me! Drop me a line via Classmates and I'll give you my e-mail address and we can get in touch! Jon
