Jon's Story

Life Jon Christianson concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, investments financing transactions and general corporate work. M&A and Investment transactions (selected): Mr. Christianson recently represented China’s state investment company in its US$3 billion pre-IPO acquisition of an interest in the Blackstone Group. He also represented China CITIC Bank (China) in its US$629 million sale of a 5 percent stake to Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A., a bank in Spain. He represented Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. and Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. in their US$2.5 billion acquisition of an approximately 28 percent stake in S-Oil Corporation, the third-largest oil refinery in South Korea. He also represented ChinaRen.com in connection with its acquisition by Sohu.com; Sanyo Shokuhin K.K. in its acquisition of Tsingyi Noodles, the largest instant noodle manufacturer in the PRC; Huaneng Power International, Inc. (Huaneng) in its approximately US$700 million merger and U.S. 13e-3 going-private transaction with Shandong Huaneng Power Development Co. Ltd., the first merger by two NYSE-listed Chinese companies; China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) in its approximately US$1.1 billion acquisition of Sinopec National Star Petroleum Company; China National Chemical Corporation in its acquisition of Qenos Holdings Pty. Ltd., a producer of plastics in Australia; Sinopec in its US$493 million U.S. 13e-3 going-private acquisition of Beijing Yanhua Petrochemical Company Limited; and Sina Corporation in its defence of a possible hostile takeover by Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited.
