Jon's Story
Life
Been trying to enjoy life as much as possible. 2006 was exciting for me because it was the first time where I wasn't deployed in a while, therefore, I wanted to accomplish some long awaited personal goals. I ran my first half marathon (VA Beach Rock n' Roll 1/2 Marathon in 1:41:04), marathon (Marine Corps Marathon in 3:28:34), and ultra-marathon (JFK 50 Miler in 9:19:45). I also went on a safari on the Serengeti and in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, Africa. Afterwards, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was quite an experience. This year I bought a bike and will try my hand at triathlons, but haven't decided on where to travel yet.

-Attended Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA from AUG 90-MAY 94, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

-Attended USMC Officer Candidate School at MCB Quantico, VA from JAN-APR 00. Commissioned a 2d Lieutenant on 07 APR 00.
-Attended The Basic School at MCB Quantico, VA from APR-OCT 00.
-Attended the Infantry Officers' Course at MCB Quantico, VA from OCT-DEC 00.
-Served as Rifle Platoon Commander, Weapons Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer for K Company, 3d Battalion, 4th Marines at MCAGCC 29 Palms, CA from JAN 01-JUL 04. Deployed to Okinawa, Japan from AUG 01-FEB 02, and to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in JAN-JUN 03 (OIF I) and DEC-JUL 04 (OIF II).
-Promoted to 1st Lieutenant on 01 APR 2002.
-Promoted to Captain on 01 SEP 2004.
-Served as Platoon Commander in 2d Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) Company, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown, VA from SEP 04-MAY 06, deployed to Bahrain in support of COMUSNAVCENT from MAY-OCT 05.
-Moved to Norfolk, VA in JUN 06 to serve as Company Executive Officer for 1st FAST Company before becoming the Commanding Officer of 1st FAST in JUL 06.
