Jon's Story

Life I do enjoy hearing from old friends and reigniting old aquaintances. I can be contacted thru Facebook, LinkedIn, and Plaxo. I have worked in electronic engineering in communications, home security, military defense, and television since graduating from NIU. I have worked for Motorola Internal Components Division, Northrop Defense Systems developing radar jamming devices for military aircraft, BRK Electronics (First Alert)developing home security systems, and Ferranti Packard Electronics, where I installed and maintained the large tote board systems for the commodity exchanges in the United States. I currently work for the Fox affiliate here in Des Moines. I waited until I was 30 years old before getting married. I have one son, who is mildly autistic. My wife and I are very involved with the Autism Society of Iowa, and my son and I are involved with Boy Scou...Expand for more
ts. He is currently working on his Eagle rank project. I still like to tinker with cars, and I am working on a fiberglass GT kitcar I bought in 1978 and have had in storage for many years. I have posted a couple pix of examples of the kit (not the one I own yet). I recently retired from my skydiving activities which I started in 1974. I most recently made a few jumps in Eloy, AZ in 2002 while visiting a long time skydiving buddy who was dying from lymphoma. I stopped jumping after messing up my back while spelunking with my son's Boy Scout troop a few years ago. I enjoy a relatively comfortable life here in Ames, Iowa, tho I still hate the winters here in the midwest. Maybe I'll retire to a warmer climate! I have recently gotten together with some of my friends from the "old neighborhood" and had a great time! Some of us hadn't seen each other in 40 years!
