Jon's Story
Life
After BGSU I moved to NYC to become an artist. Got drafted and spent 13 months in Vietnam as a combat medic. A couple of wounds and a few medals later I went back to NYC to begin a career in movies. After some success, I met my wife to be, Lynn, and opened a natural food store on Block Is. off the coast of Rhode Is.
Moved to Atlanta in '75 and got my BFA degree from Atlanta College of Art. We started a vegetarian restaurant, Nature's Last Stand, and had great success. We also did rock 'n roll catering for 10 years and got to meet every major group in the business. Our only son, Zach, was born in '79.
In 1980 I joined Turner TV to launch CNN, my position was a graphic designer, I made all those over-the-shoulder graphics. 1991 we moved to California where I continued my career in TV design as Vice President of Novocom. s head of their digital design studio, even had my own golf cart to tool around the backlot. I won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2006 for my show open for that years Academy Awards Show.
We live in Studio City in the Hollywood Hills, still married after 41 years to Lynn. She is a real estate broker in Beverly Hills with loads of celebrity clients. Our son Zach is a Sous Chef at Wolfgang Puck's "CUT" restaurant. I own O Gallery, a Fine Art gallery in Los Cabos, Mexico where I sell my art. I split my time now between L.A. and there.
Last year I led a team of designers and animators to create the opening title sequence for the 78th Annual Academy Awards Show. Later in the year we won an Emmy for that project. It was the highpoint of my career to go up on stage and receive that 16 pound gold satuette. (you can see me with it in the picture area of my profile)
I've just returned from a few months in Los Cabos, Mexico where we are building a second home. I'm in pretty good shape and loving life.
