I was the shy kid, but like to party with my friends. The summer before my senior year, I joined the US Navy Reserve the day I turned 17. I went to boot camp that summer for seven weeks. I could of chosen two week Boot Camp, but not me. I wanted the full experience and I got it. Before I left Shreveport for the Naval Training Center in San Diego I was issued full set of uniforms. When I arrived at the main gate at the Naval Training Center the Chef Petty Officer said to me, "Son the sea scouts are not meeting this weekend". Needless to say my ego was blown. I was placed in Company 5046 with 82 other guys. I was the youngest recruit in the company! Our Drill instructor was in charge of three other companies. No way could he be with four companies at the same time.
