Jon's Story
Immediately upon graduating, I went to work for the Huntington Beach Police Department as a Meter Maid (parking control officer). I wasn't quite ready to start a real career, so I messed around for a few years, finally going to work for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in September of 1980. I took a lateral entry to Ontario Police Department in 1988 and retired in December of 1993, following an on-duty motorcycle accident. After floating through various retirement jobs, I became a middle school social studies teacher in 2002. For the last five years I have been in school administration as the dean of students (ala Tex McKown), high school principal at a medium size charter school, and assistant superintendent/principal at a small, ruaral district in Northern Ari...Expand for more
zona.
My wife and I returned to Bullhead City this year and I am once again teaching middle school social studies. When I finish my regular teaching assignment, I am the evening administrator for continuing education and credit recovery programs at my previous charter school. At this moment I have no concern if I ever become a fulltime school administrator in the future.
If any of the faculty and staff at Lynwood High School knew I became a school teacher/school administrator, they would roll over in their collective grave(s).
My dream girl wife of twenty years, Laurie, and I live in the tri-state area of California, Nevada, and Arizona. I'm still riding my Harley-Davidson and I belong to a motorcycle club called the International Order of Old B******s (which really fits).
