Jonathan's Story
Citrus Grove Elementary 1977
My family moved to Westchester area so I attended Royal Palm Elementary from 4th to 6th grades ('82 to '84) I had Mr. Southall 4th gd, Mrs. Sergeant 5th gd, where I had a huge crush on a girl named Lori Cherry, never forgot her lol. Then I had Mrs. Beasely 6th gd. Mr. Southall was a nice black guy, tall and skinny but when he got mad at us, he would whip us with some rags that had knots tied to the ends of them LOL. I can't believe that was actually allowed to go on. I still have the 1984 Royal Palm Elementary graduation t-shirt I was given with everyone's name on it, including teachers. Mrs Sergeant was a mean white woman and Mrs Beasely was a mean black woman. Mr. Wolf was our music teacher. He was weird, very serious but a strange, very serious with kind of a mean streak. I remember him as not very happy...Expand for more

Attended Rockway Junior High, then Coral Park Senior, graduated in 1990.
I worked for various employers in my 20's including the US Postal Service where I was a letter carrier for 5 years. Graduated from Miami-Dade College in 2004 with an AA. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2006 at age 33. I attended Ringling College of Art & Design from 2008 to 2012 and graduated with a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Visual Development. I lived in Sarasota for 6 years while attending RCAD and completed my DoD contract with the Marine Corps.
I moved to Sydney, Australia in April 2017 and moved back to Miami in September 2018. I moved up to Fayetteville, NC in Dec 2021 to work as a DoD contractor on Ft. Bragg, then moved to Asheville, fulfilling my dream to live in the mountains and in the cold of winter after a lifetime of Miami heat.
