Jonathan's Story
I hope everyone's doing well. Life's been treating me in such a way that I can't realistically complain very much. I left Redding in 1985, after two years at Shasta College. I finished my degree at UOP in 1988, then moved to Los Angeles, and found a woman foolish enough to marry me (and she hasn't gotten any less foolish, since she's still putting up with me after 29 years). I dabbled in law and pizza delivery (as a second job to help kill off student loans faster. My very last delivery ever was to Ice Cube at his former home in Tarzana; he'd left the 'hood pretty far behind by then, lol. I also once delivered a pizza to one of our Shasta High classmates, also in Tarzana, though in a decidedly less ritzy area. He was down in LA trying to make it as an actor, so he'd given me his correct first name, but the last name he told me was his wanna be actor name. ken with him, I still recognized his voice on the phone when I took his order. I never saw or spoke with him again after delivering the pizza, though). I also did some stock day trading, but spent the majority of my working time in retail management (with Crown Books and Barnes & Noble). In 2018, I semi-retired outside of California (never thought I'd leave, but the financial pluses far outweighed the minuses). I tried complete retirement for a while, but was rather starved for social interaction, so I don't plan to fully retire again until they kick me out. So, I’m working part-time for B&N, reading/collecting books, playing tennis, and just generally enjoying a stress-free way of life. P.S. If you get to this from Burney Junior Senior High School, I left there after eighth grade (1979), but I put myself in the class of '83 so I can more easily follow what's happening with friends from those days.
