Joni's Story
Life
My kids are 24, 18 and 14 (all boys). I also have 3 grandkids (my oldest started way too early!) Married for two years and have been divorced for 22! Funny how that works. My favorite things to do are: watch my boys play sports and play with my 22 month old grandson. Kids, work and school pretty much summed up my life until I sent an email (through Classmates) to Blane Bujalski in February of 2005. We were in Mrs. Butler's English class together in our junior year at CHS. After 27 years, we met again and he is the most wonderful man I have ever known and I know I want to spend the rest of my life with him. This is a fairy tale-come-true and we are very happy.
College
Currently a student at UNLV. I started back to school in 1998 and graduated from CCSN in 2002 with an AAS in accounting. I really enjoyed my years at CCSN and was involved in Phi Theta Kappa. The teachers were great! I only went one semester ...Expand for more
to UNLV after high school and wish I would have stayed in then. I DO remember having a good time at Oktoberfest 1978! It's fun when the teacher says - MOST of you don't remember this - but I usually do. I took History of Rock-n-Roll and probably could have taught the class! I am a member of the Omicron Psi Honor Society for "non-traditional" students :) but have not participated much this year. I intend to eventually get a Master's Degree at UNLV (as a senior citizen, no doubt).
Workplace
Worked in the casinos for about 15 years - mostly as internal auditing and accounting. Had three kids in between jobs (ha ha):) Got into government work in 1998 and worked for the State of Nevada for about 7 years - mostly as an auditor/accountant - but still no degree. I took a job with the City of Henderson Utilities Division. It's a great job, but I'm looking forward to getting my degree and moving up and back into my field.
