Life
Jorge Quintana learned about songwriting as a young boy when his dad serenaded his children each night with an original song composed on his guitar. When he was 15, Jorge started to play trumpet like his idol Arturo Sandoval while he lived in Texas City Texas. There he attended Levi Fry elementary Blocker Middled School and Texas city High until he moved to Orlando Fl,his junior year in 1993.Six years later, he would study under Arturo Sandoval at Florida International University, and went on to earn a B.A. in Music (Jazz Performance) from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He was selected to be the Jazz Chair in the Disney Collegiate All-Star band in Los Angeles, where he lived for the summer of 1999 and performed with the top studio musicians.
He recorded a CD in the famed Studio A at Capitol Records, which inspired him to write music, mostly jazz in the beginning, then his Puerto Rican roots influenced his taste and he leaned towards ballads and boleros and winning the grand prize in the latin category for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. In an effort to have a solid footing in the entertainment industry, while pursuing his music career, he is getting his Juris Doctor at the Florida A&M University College of Law.
