Joseph's Story
Life
Last year I finished the Master's degree program at Miami University. I still haven't written the thesis (which is a nightmare) but i'll do that soon I hope.
After I finished the program I starting working at an Architecture and Engineering Firm in Dayton. I was working there as an Urban Planner. The division I was in did urban planning for military bases primarily. During my stay there I was able to travel around the country to various Air Force bases and help them enhance their communities by providing planning consultation. It was a good job and I was pretty happy there but then the opportunity that I had been waiting for came through.
I was offered (and accepted) the job as Community Planner at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The location was not my drea...Expand for more
m location but the job was. After working as a contractor doing the jobs of the Community Planners at various Air Force bases I knew I could do their jobs and even better. So I applied and this job came along at the perfect time. I had been living in the Fort Collins, Colorado area since 1998 and for the past couple of years had been away from my daughters while I was off at school. Cheyenne is only 45-50 miles from there so it was the perfect opportunity to be near my daughters again and have the family back together.
Working for the Air Force as a civilian is great. The job of a lifetime and the money isn't too shabby either.
