Joseph's Story
LIFE-UPDATED (01/18/2022) I am officially retired from education career of 25 years. Many changes since my last share. Time to relax and take some trips. I am hoping we will be able to travel to Iceland in the Fall. Looking forward to be in the mix of warm/cold weather scenery. Planning to attend a class of 1973 reunion with classmates on August 20th in Allington at the Jones farm. Hope to see some of you that I have not seen in a while. I encourage ya'll attend .
We still have my mum of 92 still drives, fly's , and lives in her own home. A very strong woman.
I continue to follow mitzvah and my time with God . The older I get the more I have gotten more connected to my Jewish faith and my daily time reading scripture from the Torah.
Family is important to me and we are close to our Son and daughter-in-law. Our son works in construction and his wife works in education within my district. Her future looks like she will become a Principal within the year. I am so proud of both of them.
I have always kept a journal of my life and written a bit of my upbringing, struggles of who I was, sexual abuse , and dealing with anxiety disorder along with bouts of depression. My faith and having a great therapist along with good medication got me back on track . I now live a life without the drama. I have everything together to begin my cookbook using my grandparents recipes from their restaurant in Seattle.
My motto has been to keep Active as you grow older and enjoy Life and those around you. Life is to short, so enjoy it with zest. I have not changed much and try to keep the weight down as we tend to get that mid drift that comes with age . I have always been health conscious and want to grow old gracefully.
Mr.DeMiero inspired me the most and his classes kept me grounded during my high school years. He really cared...Expand for more
about his students. He was a father figure to me and to some degree is why I am still alive today. My greatest moment in school was when the Dynamics went on tour my senior year and took all first place in competitions..
COLLEGE:
I have a degree in Business/Computer Science, Degree in Sociology( human sexuality issues) , Degrees in Education (EC-12 SPED and EC -6th grade , and a Masters in Education . In the military I obtain my medical training in Nursing .
WHAT I WANT OTHERS TO REMEMBER ME BY:
I hope my old friends remember me as a kind ,smart, caring, loving humantarian, and with a extreme raw funny sense of humor..
The wildest thing I did in college was being involved in a water balloon fight between guys/girls dorms at SPU and the police came to stop the games.
MILITARY
I gave a total of 12 years in the military . I joined the Army in 1974 and did my active time of two years in Germany. In 1977 to 1987 I was a flight nurse tech with the Air Force Reserves. I have many good memories of my travels around the world and proud that I served our country. My years in the service taught me many lesson about life and myself. Lets just say I am not shy and very outspoken these days. I always wanted to be a doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I wanted to do something in my life that would heal kids bodies but life's road took me in a different direction and I now fill their minds with knowledge.
I carry many of you in my thoughts daily and I pray that God has been good to you all over the years. I hope you are all happy where your are in life. Life is too short so don't let it go by before its too late. We have lost many classmates over the years some young and others just as they were starting retirement. Peace to you all n may God bless you.
