Joseph's Story
At 76 y/o I have lived a good life; it gets a little rough on the back side of life. After graduating from Roman, I worked on for Yellow Cab for about 6 months then on an assembly line at Fogel refrigeration. I lasted a whole month so I joined the Army (had to get that military obligation before I was drafted). I did basic Ft. Knox, KY and then was sent to Ft Sam Houston, TX. They trained me to be a medic and sent me to Germany. I served 4 years and while I was there I met my wife, Margit and our daughter Anna.After Germany, we were stationed in Ft Carson, CO. e I trained basic medics for Viet Nam. I followed them to RVN served with 1/5th mech and was wounded with only 2 weeks to go. I come home then picked up my wife. We then went Texas where I taught Special Forces. Medics for 4 years. Went back Germany with the family for another 4 years. We were sent to CA, for our last assignment then we retired in San Antonio, TX. I worked for an education company training Special Forces Medics for about 13 years.. When the contract ended I started teaching Medical Assistants at San Antonio College. That was my last job. We have lived in the same house for the past 36 years . We have been married for 56 years.
