Joseph's Story

Upon graduating, I entered the USAF for 4 years. This gave me an opportunity to travel the world. Upon coming home I started college, but ended up in the Newark Fire Department. While working as a fireman, I decided to go back to school to study Sociology and Public Administration, and also became a Licensed Professional Counselor. I worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs as a mental health therapist for 12 years, while also teaching Sociology at Essex County College. I was employed at the Newark Health Dept. for 10 years as the Bio-terror Coordinator. In 2014, I was elected as the West Ward Councilman on the Newark Municipal Council. Who would have thought? This job keeps me very busy, which I suppose is a good thing. I usually go the game between Weequahic vs. Shabazz, every y...Expand for more
ear, as I like to see old friends. Unbelievable feelin. I thougt that I would become a lawyer, but went in another direction. I am very proud to be in a position which allows me to help Newark become the renaissance city that it has become. To run for the US Congress. Still doing my thing I share my home with my family. Also I have my mom in part of my house, which I find to be a blessing. Bowling, basketball, and academic achievements. Federal employee academic achievement award. Hard work. In 10 years, I hope to be retired. I'm going to get there by working and saving.. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Joseph Sr, my father,. By traveling, reading, or hitting the golf ball. My father. Was always there for me. I carry him with me everywhere I go.
