Joseph's Story
Upon graduating, I entered the USAF for 4 years. This gave me an opportunity to travel the world. Upon coming home I started college, but ended up in the Newark Fire Department. While working as a fireman, I decided to go back to school to study Sociology and Public Administration, and also became a Licensed Professional Counselor. I worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs as a mental health therapist for 12 years, while also teaching Sociology at Essex County College. I was employed at the Newark Health Dept. for 10 years as the Bio-terror Coordinator. In 2014, I was elected as the West Ward Councilman on the Newark Municipal Council. Who would have thought? ear, as I like to see old friends. Unbelievable feelin. I thougt that I would become a lawyer, but went in another direction. I am very proud to be in a position which allows me to help Newark become the renaissance city that it has become.

I share my home with my family. Also I have my mom in part of my house, which I find to be a blessing.
Bowling, basketball, and academic achievements. Federal employee academic achievement award. Hard work.
In 10 years, I hope to be retired. I'm going to get there by working and saving..
