Joseph's Story

Entered USAF after graduation, did a year in Vietnam and Thailand - graduated at 5'9" and 115. When I left Vietnam I was 105 when I left Thailand I was 185 and 5'6 1/2" Great food there in Thailand, but I think it was the beer that did it to me. Left the service in late 1972 - spent a few months visiting with relatives here there and everywhere. Went to work in the Hotel Industry in 1973-1979 went back into the Air Guards in 79 and in 1980 became a certified Air Traffic Controller. When the Nations ATC went on Strike I left the field and crossed trained over to communications and did a two week stint in South Korea working underground. That was pretty cool. Got out in 86 as I remembered why I got out in 1972 - ha ha, lol. My romantic encounters went downhill in 1979 and never improved on my return in 1980. So I packed up and moved home to Maui and worked with Travel until 1986, moved home to my family roots in East Maui - Working first for the Famous Hasegawa General Store for less than a year as the then Hotel Hana Maui offered me full time work. So in 1987 I went to work for the Rosewood Corporation until an old calling emerged its head - I took the test for the USPS, and by October 1992 I was hired and retired as Pos...Expand for more
t Master in 2011 - Through-out 1997-present I've done some extensive traveling to Europe, Canada, Mexico the Caribbeans. My favorite cities in the US are San Francisco (food) and Boston, MA. also (food). I love to eat, so when I travel I usually put on a few pounds and work it off when I get home. Favorite cities in Canada, Montreal and Quebec City. Favorite cities in Europe, Paris, Fr. and Rome Italy. Each County has it's own beauty and history which makes it so desirable to visit. Bucket List, Israel, China and Russia. Never married, although I missed my opportunity in 1979 and I messed that up. It's hard when you've found the love of your life and can't seem to replace it. Such is life. I live a carefree life and only worry about what to do in the now. Never look back and I don't dwell on the future. Haven't really kept any close tabs on high school friends, but life throws us a bump every once and a while. I've bumped into classmates here and there through-out life, in Honolulu, on the Big Island and on Maui. It's been awhile though since my last chance encounter. Wishing you all a safe, healthy and prosperous 2014 and beyond, until our chance meeting Aloha, Malama Pono a me A Hui Hou! Joseph, Joe, Joey Zarate.
