Joseph's Story
After high school and a unsuccessful semester at Canton ATC I decided a change of scenery was needed. So in Sept 1962 I joined the US Army for 3 years. It was a outstanding experience especially the one year that I spent in Thailand with the 809th Engineering Battalion. Then from 1966 to 68 I attended Canton College where I majored in Mechanical Design. After graduation I went to work for Xerox Corp as a mechanical technician . While at Xerox I attended RIT in a Industrial Engineering night school program. However, I decided to go back to school full time and applied at Clarkson College in Spring of 1970. Once accepted as a junior I started full time in the Fall of 1970 in their Industrial Management Program Of course, the love of my life came along while at Xerox. Barbara and I were married on Memorial Day weekend 1971 in Rochester, NY. Barbara returned to Clarkson with me while I finished up my senior year. Once graduated, we headed to NJ where I was employed with another copier company for a year in their Mechanical Engineering group. Then in July of 1973 an offer came in from Xerox Corporation for a job in their Powders Manufacturing as an Operations Quality Control Supervisor, which I accepted. We resided in Ontario, NY for 10 years, and our family started to develop in July of 1973 with the birth of our 1st son Roman. In December 1974 our 2nd son, Jason was born. reer at Xerox Corp with a focus in their various manufacturing functions. During the 33 years I spent time working in a variety of different jobs and programs consisting of; Quality Engineering, Production Supervision, Manufacturing Engineering and in 1987 I became the Lead Manufacturing Engineer for the Docutech Program and eventually becoming the Operations Manager for the Input/Output Devices of this Program.
In 1984 we decided it was time to move and relocated to Webster, NY where we reside to this day. Of course, our family continued to grow and in 1986 our 3rd and last child, Jordan was born. The boys have grown up, went to school and 2 have gotten married. Roman lives in Fairport, NY and has 2 beautiful and highly active daughters who are currently 17 and 13. Jason lives in Atlanta, Ga. and has 3 children, two boys; Brandon 13, Joey 11, and a daughter, Taylor who is 9. Jordan is now engaged with wedding plans for this Fall.
For myself, I have been retired since 2005. I stay busy with bowling twice a week from the Fall til Spring and a year round active member at Golds Gym, During the summer I golf, fish, and can be found boating in Irondequoit Bay or Lake Ontario a couple of days per week. During the Fall I bow & gun hunt in the neighborhood and southern tier of NY. Then, of course, if you are a homeowner there is always something to do around the house.
My wife, Barbara, retired in 2013 after about 30 years with Rochester General Hospital.
