Joseph's Story

Life After graduating from S.C, I attended Ventura College majoring in Police Science. February 28, 1973, Debbie (Deborah Smith) and I were married. I worked a couple of short stints with Computer Science Corporation, civilian employed with the Navy at Port Hueneme and Litton Industries before parking myself with NAVFAC (Naval Facilities) at Port Hueneme. I worked with the Facilities Systems Office/Navfac Information Technology Center (FACSO/NITC) from November of 1974 until May 1, 2009, at which time both Deb and I retired from federal service with a combined total of 68+ years. Deb went back to work in 1975, also civilian employed with the Navy working at both Port Hueneme and Point Mugu. Being born and raised in Oxnard, we have made our home here. We lived in south Oxnard for 15 years before moving from the old neighborhood, in 1992, to the River Ridge area, specificallly Paseo Verde, in north Oxnard. Over the years, we have had four children, two boys and two girls. Time flies and they have all grown with the youngest being 33 and the oldest 41. We have four grandchildren, two grandsons and two granddaughters. Although retired, I have returned to my previous place of employment working as a contractor and putting together the required credits that are needed to collect Social Security (ha!). Our retirement time has been spent doing some traveling, visiting with relatives and watching the grandkids, who are growing fast. The oldest grandchild is ten and the youngest is five. Our first big retirement trip was the entire length of Route 66. The tripped was blogged and is available online, for anyone interested in reading through it. You can reach the blog at route66hoofbeats dot blogspot dot com As an update, my part time stint as a contractor ended in April of 2012. The powers to be overspent the money in the contract and, because I was working part time, I was let go. Deb and I are both currently working for Pacific Vehicle Processing located on Port Hueneme and Edison Roads in Oxnard. If you happen to be in the neighborhood traveling down Port Hueneme Road, you may catch...Expand for more

I am not a paying member of classmates.com and don't have a facebook account. It is not that I am not technically savy, I worked in the networking, specifically network security, field for about ten years towards the end of my career. I just don't have the time to play with the facebook thing and I refuse to pay to chat with anyone. You can reach me to chat by decoding the line below. Anyone that uses e-mail will be able to decipher the line. wilson_joseph at yahoo dot com Send me an e-mail, if you would like to catch up. January 8, 2017, our youngest daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Dan, had our fifth grandchild. Calvin Joseph (C.J.) Lenhart is now one year old. Unfortunately, the family lives in Firestone, Colorado. Thank goodness for Facetime. We have traveled to Colorado a few times to visit with them and they flew out to celebrate the Christmas holiday with us this past year. It is tough when family is so far apart. October 19, 2018, Jennifer and Dan had our sixth and, most likely, our final grandchild, Ethan Matthew Lenhart. Updated pictures of all the grandkids are in my gallery. I have two updates to add. The first is that, in July of 2020, Jennifer, Dan and the two youngest grandsons moved back to California and are living with me until they put together enough money to buy a place of their own. This turned out to be a God send because Jennifer worked in assisted living care while in Colorado. This helped out tremendously when, in late February of this year, we found out that Deb had cancer. The cancer was determined to be so extensive that Deb was released to home hospice care where on March 8th, after 48 years of marriage, she left me for a better Man and went to be with Jesus. Visit reardonfh(dot)com(slash)obituary(slash)Deborah-Wilson to view a slideshow of Deb's life. It is unfathomable that it has been more than a year since I lost the love of my life. My theme song, at this point, remains to be Bittersweet by Zac Brown Band.
