Life I've been living in Japan since 1988 making it eighteen years in this little island country. Events beyond my control led me back to Columbia last year, and maybe I'll stay awhile. I spent from April of 1993 to December 2005 years working for the Yomiuri Shinbun, a Japanese paper with a circulation of ten million a day. I'm was the only American writing and reporting in Japanese for a major paper in Japan, which was fun I spent the last two years as a police reporter, covering vice, drugs, guns and credit card fraud. Cheery stuff. If you google "Jake Adelstein" you can probably find some of what I've written translated into English.
