Joy's Story
My story??? Wow, where to begin....married at 18 divorced, at 21. Married again at 22, only this time I got it right. Was married 27 years until cancer took him from me in 2009. I had 1 son, now 27 (crap...where did the time go?), also raised 2 step-sons, all the boys have grown into awesome men. I have a granddaughter and grandson in Florida, and a granddaughter and grandson in Wellington, Missouri. UPDATE: More losses in my family lost my oldest step-son in May 2012, then my little brother Bob in October 2012. Been hard but what can you do...life goes on.
Moved from Levasy, to Independence, then to Wellington-Napoleon area where we raised our family. When the "baby" graduated from High School we moved to Warsaw, Missouri. It's hard to believe I've been here over 11 years!
I've worked primarily in the clerical field, but I also drove a truck, owned a medical billing business, and worked for the City of Warsaw. UPDATE: Been working for Benton County 911 as a dispatcher for 2-1/2 years now. Not a bad job, fin...Expand for more
ally got on the day shift in August 2013, but still working weekends so that sucks, but at least I have a job.
I spend my leisure time, hanging out with friends at the local establishments listening to music or shooting darts. I also do volunteer work for the Benton County Historical Society. I love to walk the trails around the Warsaw area, and hope to get back to doing a little fishing every once in a while. UPDATE: Well with my crazy hours at 911 don't get to do volunteer any more. So more of a home body lately, but with 7 acres of mostly woods, I have plenty to keep me busy.
The past few years have been a rollercoaster, but I'm a survivor...now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. UPDATE: Moved Mom in with me in November 2013 due to her failing health, its an adjustment after being by myself for 5 years but family takes care of family...that's what we do.
