Joy's Story
Forty three years have passed since I was a student at Edneyville High School and I still have so many vivid memories of friends and good times. I now realize that our class was like brothers and sisters because we started together as first graders and by the time we were Seniors we had become like famly.
I was able to make it to the class reunion for 40 years and I had a wonderful time, it just didn't last long enough for me to get around and speak to everyone. I had not seen so many people in 40 years and wanted to know all they were doing and get to talk to each person. It was just great being there and seeing everyone again.
I married Jimmy King in June of 1970 and we are still married with two grown sons. Our oldest son, Matt, lives in Nashville, TN and is a working musican as a drummer. He says he is "living the dream". He has three children, Noah, Lily and Simon . I get to see them about every six months to love on them.
Our youngest son, Tim, lives in Shelby, NC and is married with two children, Joshua and Carson. I get to see them often as we attend church together and we are part of all their ...Expand for more
school activities. Joshua is a gokart racer and we spend a lot of time in the summer at the track. He is only 7 but I can see his paw-paw in him and his love of racing.
I live in Gaffney, SC near the big peach on I-85 but I work in Blacksburg, SC as an office manager for a forklift repair company. Jimmy works here as well, so we are together 24-7 so I guess it is a good thing we like each other. We moved to SC in 1991 when Jimmy pastored a church in Smyrna, SC. He has retired from pastoring because of many health problems and pains but he is able now to work as a shop foreman for our company.
I just want any of my class mates that might read this to know I still think of you fondly and love telling stories about my high school years. I am in really good shape, if you consider round a shape, and I am still short. BUT, my how things have changed in 43 years.
Hopefully we will meet again in the near future but until this remember what God told the prophet Jeremiah. "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."
