Life I am living in Socorro, New Mexico now. It is quite a different place than any I have experienced before. It is dry, hot, windy, and clear-skyed, when the wind is not blowing. When the wind blows, you eat dirt. This is ranching, farming and cowboy country, as well as the home to several Native American tribes and many Spanish speaking people. New Mexico is a bi-lingual state. I wish that I had taken more than a year of Spanish in school. It would serve me well here. This is a place that sometimes dries the spirit, and sometimes a place of complete peace. We live on seventeen acres of mostly creosote bush and dirt. We spend alot of time choosing desert kinds of trees and bushes to grow. The sunsets are truly breath taking, with brilliant colors of turquoise and pink. There are wild animals here. We have seen cougars, bobcat, rabbits, skunks, coyotes, desert rats, and many more hanging about. There is more...Expand for more
