Joyce's Story

Joyce's story is way too long to write! I'm looking at the Story Wizard to see what I wish to share, etc. I always wanted to teach school, and that's exactly what I did. I taught high school English and was a librarian for thirty plus years. Now I'm retired, but I substitute, because I miss it all so very much. I guess the wildest thing I ever did in college was to date two guys on the same night - you tell them both you have to study and can go out for a short time only. You come in the back door of the dorm when one drops you off and out the front door with the next one. I wanted to see if I could actually pull this off, and I did. My inspirations come from within. I'm always planning what I can do next. I have virtually lived all over the world due to my job - Florida; Balboa, Panama; Seoul, South Korea, and Mannheim, Germany. There are a few people from the past whom I would like to see again, but I best not mention names. Life has taken me to places I never dreamed of going and given me experiences that I could never believe possible. Which home? I'd remodel all three from top to bottom if money allowed. I would add a lot of rooms; I don't like to be crowded. They would all be real show places with pools, jacuzzi's, bowling alleys, gardens, power windows, and self cleaning floors! I've learned a lot from my children. One cannot possibly understand how much there is to learn unless you have children. If I won $100 million, I'd remodel my houses and my children's houses. I would ensure that the grand-children had money for college. I would use the rest to educate students of my choosing who would not otherwise have the benefits of going to college. I decided long ago that I am truly happiest when I am in a mall shopping - preferably with a friend and a credit card! Age is only a number, and mine is definitely unlisted. When I was 12, I thought that no one could possibly live to be this age. I was so wrong; I'm still young - at heart that is. My first crush is happily married with a family, etc., etc., etc. That's ...Expand for more
how it should be. My best friend would tell you that I'm very dependable, extremely organized, and that I'm a people person. People who don't know me very well probably describe me as unapproachable. I was a switchboard operator in my college dorm. Young folks don't know what that is today. I worked as a lifeguard one summer at church camp. I share my home with my husband, which can be challenging at times. LOL! No mantel = No trophies. I have lots of special certificates in a three-ring binder and in frames on the wall! One do over - I would get my doctorate degree. In ten years I hope to be alive and kicking. I plan to get there by living life to the fullest! My oldest and dearest friend - you know who you are. I think people at my high school reunion were surprised that I could actually plan and pull off such a great reunion on my own. I think they were surprised that I like to ride elephants and that I still take tap dancing lessons! My first job was at Leggett's where I got paid $4 a DAY to be a clerk from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. I remember that I had fun doing this job. One should always have fun while working - it's the key to happinness. I was an only child, so my memories can be anyway I wish to remember them. I had four cousins within a year of my age, and we had a lot of good times growing up. We dug to China one time. We also dug a hole so deep that we could see Roy Rogers and Dale Evans on the other side of the world. We were Always digging deep holes to somewhere. Today: Life is good. We travel. We visit friends. We spend time with our two girls and six grand-children. I'm busy re-connecting with my high school classmates. I do a computer jigsaw puzzle every day. I love computer games and spend way too much time on them. I love to read and read four or five books a week. You can always find me at a mall at least one day a week. I watch tv, but not a lot. I love to spend time figuring out how to make and do things better and more efficiently. I'm contend. What more could one want?
