Joyce's Story
I graduated from Medford Senior High in 1973. I did my first year of college at Willamette University in Salem. I took a break for several years before returning to Southern Oregon State College. I spent a year studying at the Universidad de Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico. I took another break when I went back to Mexico to teach English at the same university. anguage and Literature at the University of Washington in 1989. It only took me 16 years! I worked briefly as a Spanish interpreter before starting law school at the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University) in 1990. After graduating in 1993, I worked for ten years as a public defender in Tacoma. For the past ten years, I have been working in a small law firm in Tacoma that specializes in personal injury. The majority of our clients are Spanish speaking.
