Joyce's Story
Life
I live in New Albany, In with my 24 year old daughter, Kim, who is in Nursing School. We have a miniature schnauzer named Cody who thinks he is human. I was married for 24 years to my best buddy, Herschell. In October of 2003, he passed away from bone cancer. Between us, we had 5 children. I have one son, Brian, from my first marriage. He had 3 sons from his first marriage and we have the daughter. We also have 5 grandchildren, 4 boys and a girl. I do lots of volunteer work with my sorority - Phi Beta Psi, we do fundraisers for cancer research. I am very active in church, singing in the choir, playing handbells, treasurer, lay leader, trustee chairperson, Chickenfest chairperson, and just about anything else that needs to be done. I work out every day at the Ideal fitness center (5 days a week) for over 2 years now and really enjoy that. I do lots of reading, and am game for doing whatever my friends want to do. I am on the computer alot since I work from home. I enjoy doing most anything - movies, flea markets, concerts, playing games, bowling, and traveling.
Workplace
For 17 years, I worked for Grey...Expand for more
hound Bus Lines and was the first woman in the country to work on the loading dock. The Courier Journal did a full page picture article on me years ago. Then the Union sold us down the river, I got a severance package, went to college, and went into banking. I started at Community Bank as a teller, worked my way up thru the ranks to Branch Manager and after 8 years left because I got hired by the Federal Reserve Bank. I worked in the Louisville Branch of the adjustments area, then in 2004, our office was closed, but I kept my job as a remote researcher for the FRB Memphis office. I work from home, travel occasionally, and really love the job. Hope to stay here until I retire, but will probably be doing more travelling in the near future. UPDATE
As of 4/30, the Memphis office was closed and I was not sure for awhile if I would have a job. But was picked up by FRB Cleveland and started working for them on 5/1 also as a remote researcher (from home) although this might involve more traveling. I will be in Cincinnati for a week or more. I hope this go round, to stay with the FED until retirement. But who knows!! : )
