Joyce's Story
My gypsy ancestors must have had a great influence on me, because since Mercy, I have been a traveller. After college at Marquette, my husband Richard (married in 1967) and I joined the Peace Corps and served in Sri Lanka as community volunteers. It changed our lives and gave us a family and career direction. After one son was born in Schenectady NY, the next in Ravenna Ohio and the next in Arlington Virginia, Richard took a job in Arusha Tanzania and that's where we ended up for many years. nd Southern Africa became our home, where we worked in rural development and today manage a small non profit that support renewable energy conservation worldwide. My focus has always been on Women's issues and I thank my Mercy years for a strong foundation. We have settled in Ashland Oregon where we are enjoying semi retirement. I hope never to really retire; as a friend recently said: when you rest your rust! and who wants to rust?!
It would be great to have a class of 1962 reunion in 2012!
