Joyce's Story

Life I've sampled so much of life that I don't identify with anything in particular except peace, love, kindness, hard work, and gratitude. I'm a human being with strengths and weaknesses. I'm married to my best friend. I'm lonely for more friends, having been an introvert all my life. Such enthusiasm, such shyness! I read, mostly non-fiction, but also fiction, if featured on NPR and caught my interest. I'm so imperfect but so interested to keep on living until I'm no longer cognizant. I have a particular fondness for some cats; they do what they please and are loved anyway. I've worked for a living for about 26 years, raised two children who make me smile, grandchildren too. I used to run four miles, then I walked four miles, now I walk 30 minutes and need to do better. I have lived in many states and experienced many cultures. I appreciate them all. I'm 63 now and this presents a new challenge. My husband, 68, is retired, and we don't have a fortune. My first husband was a jerk. He should have stayed single;we have two wonderful children. I thought when I reached 63 I would have all the answers, but I don't. I just believe we need to be kind and helpful to eachother, we need to be open to new ideas, take care of our health basics, and be grateful things aren'...Expand for more
t much worse. We love to travel-He goes on Minor League baseball trips and we go to Florida together. Sometimes I'm very unsure and very scared. But while that is going on, I hold down a part-time job doing medical transcription, and try not to take myself too seriously. I've been on Prozac since 1989. Hmmm... I love the spring time, with its new growth and beauty-no matter what the winter brought, Spring is a small miracle. I see that I have 2,252 characters remaining. Wow. I like to paint in acrylics and paint pottery. I've taken many dance classes in the past. There is still some flexibility and discipline left in my body. There is an appreciation of many forms of art. My husband is active in community theater. My cat is 18 years old. My daughter is in a suburb of Boulder, CO and will never come back-we visit. My son is a Leiutenant on a police force in the Detroit area. He spent two years "under cover". He has a beautiful wife and a boy age 7 and a girl age 5. I work for a social service agency where I can use a certain quality I pocess of openness, patience, tolerance and respect for all who walk through the door. My religious identification is still in flux. I love Jesus Christ, but I'm married to a nice, loving, intelligent Jew. Who can explain that?
