Jr's Story

I am going to use the "story wizard" to write this little gig. I hope old friends remember me for what I still am. Genuine, fun loving, a little crazy, passionate about what I believe in and somewhat of a procrastinator! I always wanted to be a musician when I grew up. My family thought it was a horrible idea and friends thought it to be quite natural . As it turns out, Family: 0 Friends: 1! I blow off steam by writing, working in the yard and playing music. I love to relax with a hot cup of tea in the winter(or ice cold coke in the midst of summer) and a great book. The wildest thing I ever did in school was: What, do I look stupid? NO way will I divulge my secrets, they will go to my grave! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have potato chips, a fast computer, and my reading glasses to be able to deal with the day-to-day. I have many heroes. My grandparents, parents, brothers, wife, kids, grand kids & great friends. My inspiration now comes from a strong belief in goodness & righteousness. I have lived in Indiana, Chicago, Florida (twice - Pensacola & Miami), Guam, Japan, Philippines, Africa, Kentucky, Diego Garcia, Scotland, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, on four ships (3 carriers and a destroyer), Newfoundland, Colorado and back to Indiana. I moved because it was part of my job! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my Grandma Powers, because I really, really miss her! She is in my thoughts constantly and eventually I am sure we'll meet again. Sports, I love sports. Especially NFL football. MY morning staple is Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPN2. The world could crumble around me as long as I know the box scores! Pets. I have the two coolest cats in the universe. They both came to us after being abandoned. Christie Lee & Shiva Diva bring balance to our hectic lives! My biggest surprise is that I have managed to live this long. Those that know me will agree, I was rather "unrelenting" in my younger days! If I could improve my home, I'd remodel our master bath (which is next in line after new hardwood floors) and add a shop out back so I could get my dag-gum garage back. My wife has her stained glass and jewelry studio out there now. My dream home would be where I am right now. I have learned compassion, forgiveness, understanding and unconditional love from my kids. I would love to see my high school art teache...Expand for more
r again. She was such an inspiration. As a graduation gift, she gave me an amazing print and wrote a poem for me. If I won $100 million, I'd give none of it to anyone, then spend the rest on me, myself and I (just kidding). I lived in the barracks and on a ship with many, many other people a few times during my course in the military. Thank God those days are over! To be truly happy, my family and friends must be truly happy. My current age is a few years north of the mid-century mark. When I was 12, I thought that people my age should be mummified and in a tomb somewhere in Egypt. I was so completely close to being right, as some days I do feel just like that! My career aspirations is to someday write a song or story that will have staying power and be my legacy. My first crush gave me a miniature football and left me for another man. My best friend would tell you I'm crazy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as crazy too. My style is blue jeans, t-shirt and sneakers. Pretty much always has been, plan now is to continue the course. Weirdest job I ever had was loading tomatoes on a truck. Worked with two guys that couldn't speak a lick of English and another fellow that simply sang constantly. I share my home with wife, son and shitty kitties which I find exhilarating. I have no trophies, have a lot of nice articles written on my musical achievements and a few medals from my military days. My one do-over would be how I ended my first marriage. I would be a lot more honest. I sure was stupid and hurt a lot of people. In 10 years, I hope to be still mowing my own lawn and cleaning my own pool. I'm going to get there by taking one step at a time and plenty of B-12. My oldest friend and I met during rough times that each of us were going through. We bonded immediately, even though he was born and raised in another country. I think everyone will be surprised if I show up at our class reunion! My first job was at Hartford Novelty, where I got paid $3.00 an hour to build wooden skids. What I remember most about it is smacking my finger on occasion with the frickin' hammer! I will always remember growing up on Harrison street in Hartford City. It was a great experience hanging out with my best friend Gary, playing cowboys and Indians, baseball, snow cones and the smell of a spring rain sitting on my front porch.
