Juanita's Story

For those of you that remember me. I don't remember doing anything wild & crazy in school. I do remember being teased a lot: about keeping to my self, being skinny [ Skinny Minnie], bleaching my hair [Which was not bleached], about the type of clothes I wore. Here is my story: There are several changes in me since I graduated. Well I talk more than I used to. I don't have to be embarrassed to bring someone home. I kept to myself so no one would have to meet my mother. Who was an abusive alcoholic. I'm not skin & bones any more. I don't wish to be skinny again but, I would like to be thin again. Nor am I a platinum blonde [Still not colored] anymore. My mother or sister [15 yrs. older] bought my clothes when I was in school. So I dressed as they liked to, not as I would have liked to. I never picked out anything for myself until after I was married & had a child. So do I still dress the same as I did then. I don't think so... The two most embarrassing things I remember during grade school was: Mr. Bond in 4th grade singing Juanita to me when he wanted me to answer his question or explain something. I hated that so much that I won't raise my hand to go to the bathroom for fear of him singing that I wet my pants. The second thing was in the 5th grade when John Smith did a report in front of the class about Names & thier meaning in spanish. John - Juan, Juanita - Juana, Jean, Jane, John, and so on. I tried to use my middle name "Jane" but no one would let me. I hated my name until I was grown and in my late twenties. There are two people I'd like to see again. Neither I've seen since graduation. Kay Rex, because I've known her since before we started school. Edith Elvestad, because we spent hours together as children. As far as TV. I like NCIS, Ghost Whisper & movies. I don't like reality shows. I only will watch sports if others are or if it's a play off game. I prefer to go to the games. Since graduation I've moved many times. I married in November 1964, had two sons, 5 yrs. apart. Divorced after 11 1/2 yrs. in 1976. My biggest surprise is that I'm not married. As a teenager that's all I wanted to do was get married and have children. Divorce wasn't part of my life picture. During my marriage I lived in Escondido, Cardiff, Vista, Oceanside, Providence, Rhode Island, Cost Mesa, Leucadia. I've worked in Aero Space Electronic Companies since I was 23 yrs. old. For a short period I worked in a Jewelry Manufacturing Co & as a Pharmacist Assistant. After my Divorce I was single for 24 yrs... I married again in 2000 & Divorce in 2003. It took me 24 yrs. to make the same wrong choices. So some of us don't get smarter as we get older. Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Along with working a full time job I taught Country Dancing 4 nights a week. It was a way to relax & earn money. I could shut the rest of the world out. I won a dan...Expand for more
cing award for teaching country dancing at a heart association dinner-dance. Also for teaching a church group. As a small child through my teens my family traveled for 5 weeks every year. I saw most of the US. Since graduation I've travel from California to Georgia & up to Mass., Back from RI to CA through the middle of the states. I was able to take my sons to the Grand Canyon & fishing up through Yosemite Park & Reno to Oregon, then back old 101 I went to Hawaii in 1982, to New Zealand in 1987, In 1992 I visited relatives in Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, & Texas, London in 2002, & last but now least I Flew to Alaska in 2009. I now have 5 grandchildren. 3 boys by my oldest son, Ed. Ages 11, 10, & 5. 2 girls by my youngest son, John. Ages 9 & 10 months. We all live about 30 minutes from each other here in San Diego. I share my home with no one, which I find GREAT. I like myself. I've learned that my kids were really listening when they were young. I didn't think so at the time. If I could do anything over it would be not to work as hard as I did. That way I could have been home more with my sons when they were small. I met my oldest & best friend through friends while I was out dancing. It took us several months before we became friends. We accepted each other as we each were. My best friend would tell you I'm truthful, generous & thoughtful, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as MEAN. I like honest straight forward people. I was always told that all I had was my word. So if I wasn't honest then I didn't have anything. I know that you can not please everyone all the time. The sad thing is that most people do not want to hear the truth. If I won $100 million, I would share it... First I'd give each of my son's, their wives, & each of my grandchildren $10 million each [$90 Million]. Then spend the balance of $10 Million on investments, Building my dream home, Charity and Travel. My dream home would be a two master-bedroom home. With a den, dining room, kitchen with breakfast bar. I would have a spa on back patio. A three car garage so the laundry area would not be inside. Located in Leucadia. I miss the sunsets. Or I could improve my home, Redo both bathrooms, & the kitchen. I'd also remodel outside and add on a patio deck. Then use more money for traveling. I was offered a voluntary layoff with severance pay in October 2008, which I took. I worked until the week of Christmas. I'm trying to start my own online travel business. Maybe I can do some world travel. Check it out... Help me with my retirement. [ytbtravel.com/angel1946] I'm going to file for S/S in November. I'm too busy to work now. I like my home & my neighbors. I live in a senior mobile home park in Mira Mesa. My youngest son is remodeling my California room. I'm happy now... My aspirations are to retire & travel.

OMGosh I am so happy. I'm doing my happy dance.
I waited 9 years for my Morgan to sit on Santa's lap.
Thank you so much John Homer. Love you both so much....
Happy Happy Birthday Nicole LaFontaine McNamara, May your day be as special as you are. Love & Hugs...
We are headed for South Carolina. On our way through Virginia we saw this town. We laughed so hard.
I've seen many weird named towns. This one really stuck our funny bone.
