Jude's Story
Life
During my senior year of high school, I signed up to be shipped off to boot camp with the United States Marine Corps. I then received a four year academic scholarship to the University of Texas from the Terry Foundation, and the USMC released me from my obligation to pursue education full-time. I went on to the School of Mechanical Engineering and received my degree.
After High School, I dated several girls seriously and became engaged to two of them (at different times, of course). For various reasons, these relationships never culminated at the altar.
In August of 1999, I got into a bad car accident by hitting a steel pole that supported stop-lights after the right front tire of my newly purchased 300M blew out at the intersection of Barton Creek Blvd & Bee Caves Road in Westlake. I consequently did $25,000 dollars of damage to the car because I was going 70 mph, but I didn't have a scratch. My parents say that God was looking out for me that day. Now its time for happier stuff.
I quit working at ATS Consulting Engineers a couple of months after I graduated and went into business with my dad. He had started a part-time business named GECO Engineering & Design in 1979, but we started together as par...Expand for more
tners in December 1998. We presently have an office located off the square and have served as engineering consultants to Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep, Shell and Waste Management to name a few national clients.
School
All I remember from high school is studying hard, dating Angie Craig, being a pretty good Junior Varsity Football Player & going to a few parties at Sam Swinbank's house.
College
During college, I was roommates with Sam Swinbank for a few years and he talked me into pledging Phi Kappa Psi National Social Fraternity. One of my pledge brothers was named Brent Sawyer and he is the Godson of President George W. Bush.
I went to class some, had too much fun, but still managed to graduate as a member ot Tau Beta Pi (most prestigious college honors society in the nation), Pi Tau Sigma (most prestigious mechanical engineering honors society in the nation), Golden Key National Honor Society, and various other honors societies. I owe all of this to the Terry Foundation, who, along with my parents, supported me emotionally and financially throughout college.
During college, I started playing ice hockey and became Captain of a men's league team in Austin for a few years.
