Life At least one key point in my bio is that I've moved around a lot. I "mainly" grew up in California, and attended La Habra High School. But my Dad was transferred (Pillsbury) to Pennsylvania, so I spent my senior year and graduated there (East Greenville). I was always sort of an outsider -- never thought I should try to be like everyone else, and was very self-conscious even though basically an extrovert, a tricky uncomfortable combination. I moved to Denver, and went to Metropolitan State College. I graduated from the American Baptist Seminary of the West (Berkeley) with an MDiv in 1990 -- and in 1993 was ordained in the United Church of Christ (a "progressive" denomination; two of our self identifiers: "We don't put a period where God has placed a comma" and "All are welcome here" -- and we mean it). During the long period between college and seminary, my main occupation was Human Resources management and consulting. But ministry was definitely my calling.
