Judith Frankel:

CLASS OF 1965
East meadow, NY

Judith's Story

Post high school, I attended New College at Hofstra University, an experimental 3 year BA awarding college from which I graduated in 1968. At the time, I had not been certain if I would major in English or in Psychology. Ultimately, I concentrated in Psych and went on to graduate training in Clinical Psychology at the University of Connecticut. I was awarded my PhD in Clinical Psych with a minor in Social Psych in 1972. I met my husband, Anthony D'Augelli, at New College; we married in 1968. When we moved to State College, Pennsylvania, we decided to have children and Jennifer Hadley Frankel was born on November 17, 1977. Rebekah Lindsey Frankel followed on August 26, 1979. They were wonderful, bright, curious children who kept us on our toes in fun ways. They went to a creative Montessori preschool. They also began Sunday School at Congregation Brit Shalom, then under the inspiring auspices of Rabbi Jeffrey Eisenstat. Jen became Bat Mitzvah in June 1990, Rebekah in June 1992. I was very involved in various positions on the JCC Board and in the Sisterhood and Hadassah. I taught on the faculty of PSU for quite a number of years, in Human Development and Family Studies and in Social Welfare. I had also opened my private practice in State College in the 70s, and I remained in that practice throughout the time I lived there. With a number of other psychologists and allied health professionals, I established a professio...Expand for more
nal society for those of us in Central Pennsylvania. Both my girls attended the Pennsylvania State University, each beginning at age 16. Jen graduated from PSU and taught chemistry there for two years before going on to medical school. She graduated from the Pritzger School of Medicine, University of Chicago, in 2004. She pursued Fellowship training in Gastroenterology. She currently practices as a GI physician for Advocate Heath Systems in the Chicagoland region. She lived in Chicago but moved to Naperville, Illinois in 2016 with her two sons, Andrew Frankel Danauskas and Zachary Frankel Danauskas. Rebekah studied at PSU for 2 years, transferring to the Tisch School of the Arts from which she graduated in 2000 with a BFA in Film and Television. She has continued to live and work in the NYC area, living in Brooklyn with her husband, Johnny. I moved to Chicago in 2007 for somewhat of a career change. I had promised to move to take care of grandchildren, and I made good on that promise becoming a Nanny for Andrew, and then Zachary with my new focus as a Child Development Specialist. I later moved to Naperville, too, and love the place. I have met tons of people and made many good friends. Plus it is a lovely town with lots going on professionally as well as personally. I am still in touch with East Meadow friends; I always welcome the opportunity to reconnect (or perhaps connect anew) with others.
