Judith's Story

I was a member of the 1983 class, however I left Fountain Ft Carson High School in February 1982, to go to a private school in Security, Colorado and graduate a year early (1982). I ended up doing 4 years worth of subjects/work and graduated that May. While at the private school, I also lettered in volleyball, went to tri-state competition and helped teach other students in the school. From there I went into the Navy which ultimately lead me to be stationed in the Republic of the Philippines during the Marcos overthrow. I witnessed a revolution first hand. I seen things that I would never want to see again, but would never give up the experiences I had while in the Navy and in the PI. After getting out of the Navy back in 1990, I again traveled around the United States landing me back in North Dakota where I got married. When my twins were newborn, my then husband decided he would be a child abuser and physically abused my newborn twins (boy & girl). I sent him to prison and divorced him. I've been a single mom since with three children, my twins and one other boy. I lived for just over 9 years in Missouri until two years ago, I moved to Texas. I took my children to the Colorado Springs area last summer and reconnected with a classmate. My children share a love of that area with me.. I am a disabled United States Navy Veteran and from that I was able to attend the University of Mary for Radiation Therapy. I was over half way through with my college when I gave birth to my twins and my ex abused them. I end...Expand for more
ed up leaving school to tend to my newborns, i was pregnant again and dealing with my ex's criminal then divorce trials. So sadly I have not returned to college to finish. What I have done with the credits I have earned is I am now substituting. Many of my classmates in 8th grade told me even back then that I would end up a teacher. I am now even if on a part time basis (I get more work than I want and can handle) and I so love my job. I am awesome at it and for the ost part the children respond well to me. Many teachers individually have me as their preferred substitute and in this little city three schools call me first whenever they need someone to fill in. *smiles* I so love teaching and am annointed in this profession. I thank my God that I finally am in a position to fulfill my callling, no amount of money can replace a love of job and peace of mind that comes with doing what you are ment to do. I am a blessed mother. All three of my children are on the "A" honor roll consistently, do not get into trouble. My boys play in band and my daughter sings. All three are active on the tennis team here locally. This year my twins in 7th grade were inducted into the Junior National Honor Society. All three have earned a Presidential award. My daughter for thee years now has made the Texas Honor Student List and the one year we went and she participated in competitions she came home not with the largest title, but with the most coveted award. I am such a blessed and proud mother and thank God for the children I have.
