I'm married (22 yrs to Glen) & have 3 sons (Travis: 30, Alan: 27 & Brian: 20). We're currently living in Sunnyvale CA, but we own a home in Marana AZ. I've been disabled and home-bound from severe chronic pain for more than 15 years. It has been a difficult transition cuz before my condition got so bad that I could no longer work, I had just been promoted into a job that was created for me to utilize my most technical skills. I provided support to a group of 40 scientists, doing everything from managing their calendars to preparing presentations for their work for talks, etc. I also provided computer support to other administrative staff as well as some of the scientists. I loved my work so much that I was working about 60-80 hrs/wk on top of parenting my sons and maintaining our house, etc. Being stuck in bed most of the time kept me depressed for quite a while, but I in 2002 I went for a quick ride on my husband's new motorcycle. I learned quickly that somehow riding the bike lessened my pain substantially while I am on the bike. So, in 2003 I got my first street bike, a used 250cc Honda Nighthawk.
