Judy's Story
Judy (Blue) Hunter married Gerald Michael Hunter on March 3, 1963. He graduated from Wilson High School in Portland. They had 3 children - Lori, born January 22, 1964, Jeff, born January 11, 1967 and Scott, born September 15, 1968.
Jerry worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 26 years. He was area manager for traffic in the Seattle area. Judy taught school for a few years and then went to work for The Boeing Company in Seattle.
Judy and Jerry and now retired and enjoy travelling and spending time at their house on the lake at Lake Cavanaugh, Washington. It is just east of Mt. Vernon. They have one cat, named Spook.
They now have 2 grandchildren - Rachael, age 20 and Brittney Anne, age 11 and one great grandchild named Bentley Lyle. Of course they are the smartest and prettiest grandchildren and great grandchild ever!!
School
My favorite teacher at Milwaukie High School was my senior English teacher. I read Somerset Maugham's book "Of Human Bondage" that year and it real...Expand for more
ly spoke to me. Her motto was "Greagariousness is the refuge of mediocrity". I have always remembered that and have strived for individualism in all that I have done, and not gone along with the crowd. Sometimes this is a harder path to take!
College
I received a scholarship to LInfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. I went there for 2 years. Then I had to fund the rest of my college. I transferred to Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and worked in the Portland Library to fund the rest of my college. I graduated with a BA in elementary education and English in 1963 and taught elementary school at Harmony Grade School in Clackamas, Oregon for 2 years.
Workplace
In 1985 I went to work at The Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington. I did a lot of teaching adults in "soft skills". I developed courses in Conflict Resolution, Creativity, Customer Services, Stress Management, Memory Development and also taught the Franklin Covey courses in Excellence and What Matters Most.
