Judy's Story
My 1st vehicle was a 1950 red Ford pick up truck. I got more compliments on that thing and more offers to buy it. It was a 4 speed stick in the floor. Guys had a hard time believing I could drive a stick shift. Told them I learned on an old Jeep Truck and an old Tractor we plowed the gardn with. The guys wanted to borrow my truck for dates.... My answer was always ' "No way Dude. "
The only bad thing about that truck was that it had no heat. One cold winter day on the way to school, I asked my twin Janice, who was curled up on the passenger side, with a warm cup of hot chocolate, to hold her hand on the windshield to help me keep the ice off it. Her response was no way, my hands will get cold. Well as usual, I continued to drive with one hand and shift with the other and in between that keep one of the hands on the windshield to keep it clear so I could have a sm...Expand for more
all area to see out. I look up an suddenly I see a front end loader partially in the ditch but mostly in the road; did I mention that it was very cold that day and that they had scraped the roads to clear ice, well trucks do not takes curves real well when the beds are empty and the roads are slippery. I said a really quick prayer and hoped GOD was awake and listening and he was because we came out unscaved. Me, scared to death, thanking GOD the whole time, my twin Janice looked at me and said, in the most sincere voice, "if you had of hit that thing I would have spilt my hot chocolate.". I had to stop that truck. I looked at her and said "if I had hit that thing we would have spilt our guts.". I turned back to the road and drove to school not speaking to her the rest of the day. She still did not help with keeping the windshield free of ice. Man I loved that truck.
