Judith's Story
I am now retired from being a research lab tech in a government fisheries lab, where I performed DNA/RNA studies on salmon and their diseases. It was mostly molecular biology work.
My husband was a Lt Col. Reserve Wing Chaplain in the USAF. He retired in 2006 after 5 deployments to Iraq.
We met in Denver, Colorado at a church college-graduate Bible study group and married in 1975.
We have raised 2 sons. We live outside Seattle. It's quite different here from Clifton. We have 2 houses. One is on a small island that is so beautiful and peaceful. We see bald eagles, whales, otters, deer and other wildlife. Lovely view of water & mountains.
Since 1990 we have been volunteering for World Relief sponsoring refugee famillies that arrive in our area. It's been a very awarding experience! We have had families...Expand for more
from the Ukraine, Russia, Azerbijian, Ethiopia, Liberia, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.
We had so many families live with us from the former Soviet Union that I picked up Russian. Between 1992 and 1997 I made 5 short-term missionary trips to Siberia. Russian is now my second language, and I occasionally am asked to interpret at school parent-teacher conferences. I never expected that development in my life.
Currently we own 7 rental properties in the area that keep us busy. I really love remodeling them and have learned to do a lot of it myself thanks to HGTV.
I also enjoyed working around the house and in the garden. We have a samll pond with goldfish and a hot tub for relaxing. We have a cat that talks more than I do. Thank goodness she can't use the cell phone! We also have a really cute Cairn Terrier.
