Judy's Story
Well, I've lived and worked in the "OC" for almost my entire life. Speaking as a "seasoned" 58-year resident of this now too over-crowded, very expensive, traffic-jammed county, the good old days (as we love to remember them) are so long gone!
Personally: I survived a couple of stupid marriages/divorces and have been HAPPILY married now since 1992. I actually knew my current husband for 11 years before we officially started dating. I had beautiful daughter, Brenna Michelle, in 1968 but, sadly, she passed away and took a huge part of my heart with her. My only son, Jason Scott, was born in 1970. I raised him as a single mother/sole provider for 17 years until he FINALLY ventured out on his own at age 21. He is a very intelligent, handsome, (now currently unemployed) batchelor(damn!), enjoys the company of lots of lady friends, loves to "hang out" with his fishing buds and is the devoted guardian of a rescued dog named Boomer. I try really hard not to envy my friends, co-workers and neighbors who have real HUMAN grandkids to spoil. I get to "dog-sit" when Jason goes on yet another deep-sea, fishing trip! Woo-Hoo!!
Professionally: I've been (thankfully)employed ever since the same month I graduated RAHS. I spent 29 years in the banking industry (from mail clerk/teller to vice president), another 10 years in education (high school teacher to a private school administrator). I've spent the last five years managing a 33-year-old, home health care agency in Tustin, California where we help the frail, elderly remain independent and safe in the comfort of their own homes. Every job I've had, so far, h...Expand for more
as been rewarding, challenging and inspiring. My 4th and final career change...I HOPE...is ultimately retirement!!
Education: It took me nineteen, long, years to finally graduate with a B.A. in Journalism/Minor in Business from Cal State Long Beach in 1983. Working full-time, raising a son as a single mom and going to college almost did me in! Believe it or not, though...I actually managed to (brag-brag) graduate with HONORS! Go figure, huh?!
Lifestyle: My husband, Bob, and I bought a foreclosure property in the Nohl Ranch area of Orange in 1994. The house was a complete and utter disaster, in every sense of the word! The only thing going for this very creepy, long-neglected, single-story house was the quiet, unique, cul-de-sac location, the wonderful, friendly neighborhood and the magnificent canyon/ocean views. We have spent the last 14 years (and most of our hard-earned money!)remodeling and upgrading this truly lovely slice of Southern California real estate. Trouble is, now that we are so ready to finally retire, we are seriously thinking we simply can't afford to stay in the massively, overly-taxed, poorly managed California (Orange County) area.
Pets: I've always, always, always had many furry, four-legged, much-beloved critters enhancing my life. Right now my husband and I provide a safe, happy, healthy haven for two, rescued dogs(Clarabelle and Budweiser)and two, very FAT(also rescued) cats named Turbo(the terrible) and T2(the beloved).
Life, as I am experiencing it right now, is pretty darn good. Not perfect (what life is?!)...but good.
