Judith's Story

Life I have gotten remarried. On July 7, 2001 after dating for more than 5 years I married the true love of my life. We used to live in New Jersey but life has taken a LOT of twists and turns since then. We moved to Branson, Missouri for a while where we bought a large number of investment properties. Unfortunately, with rental properties in order to pay your mortgage you need people who will rent from you and we could not manage to keep them rented and we lost all of our homes . 2008 was a bad year to try real estate. Then we moved to Zuni New Mexico where my husband was teaching on the reservation. Zuni is an interesting place to visit (maybe) but not to live. Issues with getting his state license caused my husband's job to be eliminated and when my contract was up we left New Mexico. Teaching at Zuni was a challenge because where as the students are basically polite and decent kids the whole Zuni nation is extremely apathetic about the "white mans education" and really do not care to learn. Zuni is a very poor community (almost every family is on governmental support) and strong into its ancient traditions still. The medicine man is still called for things we take for granted and either treat with OTC medicine or see an MD for. It was quite a change for us but we know that that move was GOD's leading. We spent a summer criss-crossing the country looking for a H.S. math teaching job for my husband. He has a degree in Mathematics and a Master's Degree in Mathematical Finance and then went back to school and got his teaching certificate. We found many jobs but no money to pay him. Eventually we gave up and I took a job. That brought us to Georgia where we lived for just over 3 years. Georgia is where we still call home I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant. When we lived in Zuni I worked for a staffing agency that placed me in the Gallup McKinley School System in the town of Gallup about 30 miles off the Rez. The Gallup McKinley school system is bigger than the state of New Jersey but I stayed in town and did schools there. I could have stayed there another school year but Gallup is a desert area with not much in the way of shopping or entertainment and to barren for our tastes so we left and now live here in Jesup GA. Again I used my staffing company and again I work for the school system in Wayne County. I loved it! I am the only OT therapist to regularly see the students so I have a ton of responsibility but also a ton of freedom. PLUS-- Jesup is a great small town (Mayberry like from the old Andy Griffith Show) and much bigger towns are not that far north or south of here. Satwas teaching at the local tech college a few classes every quarter but they never made him full time. ...Expand for more
in Aug 2013 we moved to again to Kingman Arizona. It was a great small town. It is in the Mojave Desert but it is not barren. We were surrounded by mountains and it is just beautiful to view every day. We moved because Sat got a full time teaching job at a great H.S. in Kingman. The people he worked with were just fabulous and really care about giving the students the best education possible. They also care about one another which makes it even better. I was still working as an OT. It is great that I have so many opportunities for places to work. The teaching did not work out as we hoped. They needed a more disciplinary type. Sat is not a disciplinarian at heart. I worked part time at a nursing facility and then I also worked in the schools. It was a VERY horrid stressful situation. I am glad we are done there but I do miss some aspects of living in the town. We have moved again!!! We are now in Kansas as Sat got a BETTER job in this H.S. He is teaching Math to ESL kids and loves it. Smaller classes mean more actual time helping students. GOD miraculously gave us the money to buy a house and then later we even bought another here in town as a rental. We are blessed with FABULOUS tenets. I am working at a local nursing home and it is a job I really love. Both my parents have passed away but both of my sisters still live in PA, and we left a TON of friends in NJ so we will be getting back to the NJ/PA area at various times. My husband's parents have also passed away but he has two brothers that live in London England that we visit every few years. His older brother does come to visit us. We are real big into theater and London's West End is probably better than Broadway for the variety of great shows they offer. Broadway does almost exclusively musicals, but the West End offers so much more! My son is in active ministry. He is taking classes to get a degree in evangelistic ministry. He is going to school and is living in Lawrence Kansas. He is one of the worship leader at the church and regularly involved in missions. He has been to Israel, Nepal/India and Mexico now with the church in Kansas. In Jersey he was very involved in the youth groups at church and went to Guatemala on a missions trip. The year before that he went to Peru. He also "apprenticed" with a friend and traveled up and down the East Coast, over to California with various stops along the way. He is an amazing young man that went beyond all the hopes and expectations I had for him. What GOD is doing with him blows my mind. He is about to start his own ministry and will be traveling all around the country and even globe. He is a pastor under ministries so he is staring his own ministry opportunities when the chance come up.
