Judy's Story
Life
What a great 45th year reunion! I wish I could have joined the breakfast group on Sunday morning to really catch up with individual classmates. I was able to expand my trip down memory lane by visiting Whittier, Paul and Coolidge while I was in town. All three schools are in beautiful condition and still look large even with my adult eyes. I was so surprised and delighted to find Whittier almost the same as when we left! The floors, walls, inside stairways (including the banisters),playground, bathrooms, windows, nurse's room and art rooms were all as they had been when we were students. I remembered the feelings of cool fall days and damp winter days with what I remember as steam heat in the building. rushes. I wanted to take one home with me! I was so fond of watching the primary paint colors mix with the water and swirl down the sink. I did the next best thing to taking a sink home with me--I photographed it! If anyone is interested, I can post the photos on this web site, along with similar photos. I remembered the activities in the auditorium that once seemed so large and now felt so small: the safety assembly when Sally Massey won the bright yellow umbrella that I had wanted so much to win. The square dancing classes, french lessons, the play about George Washington when my long skirt fell and my white cotton pantaloons luckily remained. The wooden floor is still there; only now it creeks and has gaping spaces between the boards like our missing teeth and no longer is it shiny and golden from varnish. What a fine time I had in school!
